NDTG CCDO Advanced Demolition Operative (Topman) – Kent
Description
The NDTG CCDO Advanced Demolition Operative (Topman) Course will train demolition professionals to manage small teams. Their role will include all the responsibilities a Demolition Refurbishment Operative has, as well as the demolition of load-bearing walls and structure by hand.
Advanced Demolition Operatives will work to method statements and pre-planned cutting sequences and will be able to use relevant equipment and techniques such as safe oxygen/fuel cutting and working at height.
Advanced Demolition Operatives are supervised by a CCDO Chargehand or a CCDO Site Supervisor.
Course Duration
Our NDTG-approved Demolition Topman course lasts one day (eight hours).
Weekend courses commence at 7.30am and weekday courses at 8.30am.

Our NDTG CCDO Advanced Demolition Operative courses are delivered at our training centre in Maidstone, Kent.

Who should attend?
The NDTG CCDO Advanced Demolition Operative course is aimed at demolition professionals who wish to apply for the NDTG CCDO Trained Advanced Demolition Operative card.
Candidates must:
- Hold a valid Demolition & Refurbishment Operative 5-Year Card (Blue CCDO Card) and have passed the Level 2 Demolition & Refurbishment NVQ, OR have verifiable five years’ experience in the demolition industry.
- Hold a valid Demolition Specialist or above Health, Safety and Environment Test Pass.
- Hold a current NDTG or UKATA Asbestos Awareness certificate (e-learning NOT accepted).
Course Programme
As part of your NDTG CCDO Advanced Demolition Operative you will learn about:
- Demolition legislation
- Demolition by hand, including structural and load-bearing elements
- Operation of work tools
- Temporary works
- Hot works
- Confined spaces
- Behavioural safety
- Plant & equipment
- Method statements and cutting sequences.
Certificates /Awards
After completing their one-day NDTG CCDO Advanced Demolition Operative course, candidates will be issued a Red CCDO Advanced Demolition Operative card. This card is non-renewable and valid for three years.
The NDTG is the only organisation able to issue CCDO cards, which are requested by companies who commission demolition projects in the UK.
Next Steps
Before your red CCDO Advanced Demolition Operative (Topman) card expires, candidates will need to pass the Level 3 NVQ in Demolition.
Providing candidates also hold a valid Specialist Demolition Health, Safety and Environment Test Pass and current NDTG or UKATA Asbestos Awareness certificate, demolition professionals will then be able to apply for the blue CCDO Advanced Demolition Operative card.
The blue CCDO Advanced Demolition Operative card is valid for five-years and candidates will need to re-take the one-day NDTG CCDO Advanced Demolition Operative course to renew it before it expires.
