This is a question we get asked a lot at Prime Safety and it’s a really straightforward process. Delegates looking to apply for a green CSCS Labourer card require the following:

– Pass the CITB Health, Safety and Environment touchscreen test

– Attend and pass the CITB Health and Safety Awareness classroom course

The CITB Health, Safety and Environment test is a computer based, multiple-choice test which takes around 45 minutes to complete and contains 50 questions. The test costs £22.50 and can be carried out at Pearson VUE test centres across the country. There are three types of test, Operatives, Specialists and Managers/Professionals. To apply for a green CSCS Labourer card, delegates only require the Operative level test. Click here for more information on booking the CITB Health, Safety and Environment test.

The CITB Health and Safety Awareness classroom training is a 1-day course and costs £125 + vat per person to attend. We run these courses every month at our centre in Maidstone and candidates must have a basic understanding of English.

Once you have the above, you can then go onto the CSCS website and apply for your card online. Make sure you have a scanned copy of your Health and Safety Awareness classroom course certificate to hand and your test ID from your CITB Health, Safety and Environment touchscreen test (found at the top of your pass certificate). You’ll also need your credit or debit card to pay the £36 application fee.
